Finland is the happiest country in the world and the Finland economy is a key reason for that. For many years, Finland has won the accolade of being the happiest country in the world, but why is this?

There are two many reasons why Finland is the happiest country in the world. The first is the Finland economy, the second is the Finland environment.

Starting with the economy of Finland then. Put simply, Finland is rich, very rich. Once you control for population and living costs, it is one of the richest economies in the world. The Finland economy is richer than Canada, France and the UK. That certainly helps it to become the happiest country in the world.

But then there is also how the Finland economy is set up generally. There are lots of pro-family policies. Finland education is one of the best in the world and promotes cooperation and teamwork all throughout the schooling system. Finland has one of the most generous parental leave policies in the world and job satisfaction is generally high. The Finland economy is set up in a way that promotes cohesion so even workers on low wages are generally happy. This helps Finland win the title of the happiest country in the world. Unlike in the UK which is full of people saying they hate their jobs, in the Finland economy, it is the opposite.

The economy of Finland also helps those that are struggling most. The welfare state within Finland is very strong. Two examples spring to mind. The first is the housing first policy which Finland follows. This policy involves giving a homeless person a house first and foremost. Finland has been successful in reducing homelessness whilst many developed countries have failed.

Secondly, Finland has recently hosted a universal basic income trial. The results of the UBI trial showed that wellbeing was increased significantly. So if Finland does ever introduce UBI, you can expect them to continue to win the title of the happiest country in the world.

It's not just the Finnish economy though that leads to the Finland being the happiest country in the world. The Finland environment is delightful. It has some of the cleanest lakes and rivers in the world. 70% of the country is forested, making it one of the most forested countries in the world. So outside of work, you can take the environment in.

I hope you enjoy this video and learn more about the Finland Economy and how it has helped Finland to become the happiest country in the world.
