The plan for the 8th of September 2019 was to get from my hotel in Odense to Hamburg - by train and ferry! The Danish part of the journey involved two changes and a rail replacement bus, but I got there in the end. Having never travelled on a train ferry this was a most exciting & unusual experience, and it was one of only two train ferries left in Europe. Sadly in December 2019 this famous service ceased to run with trains running via the mainland. It was May 2021 when Rødby Ferry station finally closed for good. Footage here shows the train boarding, onboard and disembarking the ferry. All in all it was a fantastic experience and a huge shame it no longer runs.
