I participated in a panel discussion hosted by the Sandton Branch of the Black Management Forum about the failure of Black Economic Empowerment in South Africa. The discussion was over three hours. This is only a compilation of my opening statement and other inputs during the discussion. I argued that BEE is a semantic fraud, because it has nothing to do with empowerment, and very little to do with black people. I also argued that BEE is both destructive and immoral.
