When the Olympic Games 2016 kicked off in Rio de Janeiro, Denmark welcomed foreigners and locals alike with a spectacular Danish National House on Rio's world-famous Ipanema Beach. Dubbed the 'Heart of Denmark', a 300 m2 beach pavilion showcased the best of Danish culture, business, sports and tourism, highlighting Danish core values and competencies, and included an exciting exhibition area with fun activities and games, DJ sunset sessions, concerts, and much more.

The Danish pavilion was designed by the acclaimed Henning Larsen Architects, offered free admission to the public and, as the only national house, located at the iconic Ipanema Beach.
