Swiss Alps, Day 10-11: Margaroli to Milan

Days 10-11 of a 200+ km hike from Chamonix, France to Fusio, Switzerland.

After leaving Rifugio Margaroli in Italy, I hiked 20 miles across the border back into Switzerland, stopping in Riale for lunch, then heading on to Capanna Basodino where I spent the night. The following morning, I passed by ice-covered Lago Sfundau, stopping for lunch at the amazing Capanna Cristallina, then walking the last 5 miles along the roads into Fusio. From there, I took the bus to Locarno where I enjoyed the Locarno Music & Film festival that night. The following day, I took the train into Milano Centrale to meet my family and enjoy the rest of the trip in luxury.

All of these places (Rifugio Margaroli, Capanna Basodino, and Capana Cristallina) have beautiful surrounding mountains that are easily accessible from those refuges and serve as a launching point for both trekkers and climbers.
