El jefe de Estado Mayor de la Defensa de Irán, el general Mohamed Bagheri, ha asegurado que la interceptación británica de un petrolero iraní en Gibraltar la semana pasada no quedará sin respuesta. El Gobierno gibraltareño informó este lunes que el 'Grace 1', apresado el pasado jueves en el Estrecho, está cargado de crudo al máximo de su capacidad. El texto explica que estas pruebas refutan las declaraciones de ciertos comentaristas que especularon con que el cargamento del buque no era crudo". El superpetrolero fue intervenido porque se sospecha que el destino del crudo era la refinería de Banias, en Siria, lo que supondría una violación de las sanciones de la UE, concretamente del Reglamento 36/2012 directamente aplicable a Gibraltar.
