Hundreds of people took to the streets of Santiago on Saturday to protest over police's fatal shooting of a street juggler the day before.

Police were seen deploying water cannons on protesters gathered in the city's Plaza Nunoa.

Protesters were seen rallying behind a banner reading 'street art is not a crime,' as rallies took place in cities across the country.

The shooting took place Friday in the southern Chile town of Panguipulli. The shooting reportedly occurred after the juggler did not cooperate with a police search.

The officer involved in the shooting was detained while investigation in the incident proceeds, according to reports citing police.

Chile has been rocked by demonstrations for more than a year. Demonstrators are demanding the release of detained protesters, as well as economic reforms and the resignation of President Sebastian Pinera.
