Rubjerg Knude er en af Nordjyllands helt store turistattraktioner. Det ikoniske fyr blev tændt i 1900 og stod på daværende tidspunkt ca. 200 meter inde i landet.
Som årene gik kom havet nærmere, og vinden blæste store mængder sand op fra klinten. Man forsøgte at bekæmpe sandets vandren ved at sætte fyretræstoppe og plantede marehalm langs klinten, men jo mere man plantede jo højere voksede klitten. Til sidst var klitten så høj foran fyret at man ikke længere kunne se lyset fra fyret ude på havet. I 1968 slukkedes fyret og man opgav kampen mod naturen.
I løbet af de sidste 50 år er sandflugten fortsat ved Rubjerg Knude og nu (2019) er fyret så tæt på vandet at det skal flyttes længere ind i landet. I uge 43 2019 flyttes det 23 meter høje tårn.

Rubjerg Knude is one of North Jutland's major tourist attractions. The iconic lighthouse was first lit in 1900 and was at that time about 200 meters inland.
As the years went by, the sea drew closer and the wind blew large amounts of sand from the cliff. Attempts were made to combat the sand migration by putting pine tops and planting mare straw along the cliff, but the more they planted the higher the dune grew. Eventually the dune was so high in front of the lighthouse that it was no longer possible to see the light from the lighthouse at the sea. Therefore, the light was switched off in 1968, and the fight against the sand was abandoned.
Over the past 50 years the sand drift has continued at Rubjerg Knude and now (2019) the lighthouse is so close to the water that it must be moved further inland.
In week 43, 2019, the 23 meter high tower will be moved 65-70 meters.
