외교부, 트럼프 북핵 언급에 "북 도발 가능성에 경고"
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump expresses his frustration with North Korea's nuclear program and China's lack of cooperation in reining in Pyongyang... via Twitter.
His words draw contrasting reactions from Seoul and Beijing
Kwon Soa looks into the immediate responses to the former reality show star's unfiltered and uncensored comments.

South Korea's foreign ministry put significance on U.S. president-elect Donald Trump's message posted on Twitter, Monday local time,... referring to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's statement on the regime's missile and nuclear weapons development.

"Trump's message is meaningful as it not only is his first explicit mention on North Korea's nuclear issue since being elected as president, but also can be translated into a clear warning against Kim Jong-un's indication in his new year's speech,... of a possible intercontinental ballistic missile test launch."

In a separate tweet Trump slammed China,... saying it has been "taking out massive amounts of money & wealth from the U.S. in totally one-sided trade, but won’t help with North Korea."

The remark indicates the to-be president is not at all afraid of angering Beijing,... and complies with a call by a U.S. senator on the Trump administration to not be afraid to anger China by making use of so-called "secondary sanctions".
Those punish firms engaged in business that helps the regime's nuclear weapons program.
China's foreign ministry refuted Trump's statement,... saying that as a key player in north east Asia, Beijing is working hard towards a peaceful denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, and that it's being broadly acknowledged for that.
The ministry's spokesperson Geng Shuang also stressed China actively participated in sanction discussions as a permanent member of the UN Security Council in order to pass several resolutions.
On the sanctions front,... according to a report Tuesday, by a UN committee in charge of resolutions on North Korea adopted by the UNSC,... there are eighteen suspected cases in which Pyongyang violated UN sanctions last year,...
...out of which 15 are related to the North's nuclear and missile tests.
