Residents of Jitlang, Upper Jitlang and Chanatar under West Pendam constituency here claimed that the use of explosives for excavation of the railway project has caused damage to their houses. They also fear that the water supply source has developed cracks and may burst and create flood like situation followed by water shortage in Rangpo town. The residents have taken up the issue with the Rangpo SDM demanding compensation for the damages and permanent solution to avert further damage.
Asked on the issue, Rangpo SDM Prem Kamal Rai said he has received the complaints from the locals and a fact finding team has been sent to assess the damage.
