 Democratic Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman called for her city and the entire state of Nevada to reopen Thursday, saying that shutting down the economy over the coronavirus pandemic makes “no sense.”  “Hotels and restaurants, our entire tourism and convention industry business has been shut down,” Goodman . “It makes no sense. It makes no sense.”  “From my perspective, we must open our city,” Goodman . “We must open Southern Nevada, and we must open the state of Nevada.”    Democratic Nevada Gov. issued an executive order April 1, closing “non-essential” businesses to the public, a major blow to the Las Vegas economy, which largely relies on tourism. Nevada is also one of 43 states that remains under a stay-at-home order.  Multiple protests throughout the country recently, with some Americans gathering in front of their respective state capitals to voice their opposition to the shutdowns. President Donald Trump has expressed a desire to reopen the American economy and is Thursday evening for states reopening their economies.
